Hi
I would like to know why everyone runs ducks and hides when they learn that a loved one friend or someone they know has been diagnosed with Bipolar depression?
I understand there are stigmas related to it, but when will people come out of the midevil era and embrace those who suffer from this?
Thinking about it, I have a friend who was recently diagnosed with it and her family and friends ran for the hills.
She has been up and down all these years I have known her and now we know why and what’s behind it all.
She is not any different and will always have this. People loved and accepted her before the “DIAGNOSIS” what is so different now? A lot of celebrities have this disease yet everyone adores and respects them! What the heck?

I think it may be due to a lack of education and understanding on the subject.

I have just realised that it has been my daughter who has been the cause so much trouble in my family and between everybody she has associated with. Disrupting the lives of all around her.
When I heard of Bipolar Disorder I realised that this may be the cause. I have suggested that she sees a doctor but was then subjected to all sorts of abuse. She has now cut me out of her life.
That may be why people ‘run for the hills’. They ,like me, are fed up with ‘walking on eggs’ whenever she is with them.

It isn’t fear. If you’ve ever been stuck with somebody in full-blown manic phase, they’re a pain in the butt: they just won’t shut up and leave you alone. It’s nice to be sympathetic for an hour or two, but it gets burdensome after a while.

it’s frightening for family members, especially since mental illnesses tend to run in families. It makes them paranoid about themselves and their own behaviors. That’s the only reason I can think of that they’d react that way.

Sorry but the people I know wouldn’t abandoned any of their loved ones if they were ill. It must just be the people you know.
