I had one hypomanic episode that lasted one day after two days of not sleeping (I went back to my depressive mood once my doctor told me I might be bipolar) It was brought on a few days after I smoked weed. This happened after a period of generalized anxiety disorder and depression. I immediately went on xanax and went back to normal. Does one manic episode mean bipolar definitely? Also do I have to stay away from antidepressants because of one short episode?

The girl in question has not been dx’d with anything but depression and is taking Faverin (anti-depressant).
So, basically I’m wondering whether there are any medications that can induce/cause a manic episode.
Don’t worry, this question is definitely not for anything other then genuine curiosity.

Okay, so in theory she has been diagnosed with bipolar, then what could cause a manic episode?

I have a friend who has been diagnosed with Bipolar disorder. His whole life he has been a rather introverted person. This could be an example of depression. Last month he became extroverted for the first time, and became talkative brave, and out going. He then went to the doctors and recieved a diagnoses of Bipolar 1 disorder.
Can a person be diagnosed with Bipolar 1 disorder with only 1 supposbly manic episode? He has never acted this way in any other point in his life?

If you are, did you ever engage in crazy behavior you never would in your sane state? How did you cope with the depression afterward and the aftereffects of what you did during your manic episode?
I’m so down now–I can’t believe what I’ve done! It’s like there’s an alter ego that does all these crazy, wild things. I just hope the consequences (bills, etc) aren’t going to kill me before I kill myself from the anxiety.
