Question by Nyema: Parents, is it possible for adhd symtoms to show up as early as 3 years old? What about manic depression, etc?
Are there any books or something that me and the mother, who is a friend; can get educated on as to what signs or symptoms I should look for. The child’s father is manic depressive and bipolar and I’m wondering is this an inherited trait or disease this child could be showing signs of having, especially with some of the behaviors she exhibits.

I tried getting my daughter diagnosed at 3 but most Dr’s dont want to diagnose until 6 (cause they cannot medicate children at that age).

I read this book called “The Explosive CHild” by Ross Green.

It was fantastic….. I got it at chapters. It was amazing it will help you understand your child better and see where your child fits in. there are so many different types.

if you ever want to chat, email me at darlin_jenni@yahoo.ca

I finally got my daughter diagnosed at 5, she has ODD and ADHD…. life is better now that I have some understanding

Good luck

Question by KJ: is it possible to have postpartum depression to show up 1 full year after the birth of baby?
My beautiful wife is full time stay home mom to 3 wonderful (but often stress causing) kids, and she’s taking classes part time.

I work zillion hours a week to make ends meet, and as much as i try, I don’t do enough around the house to make her job any easier.

She’s showing many signs of depression… low energy, short fuse with the kids, body aches etc.. could she be going through postpartum depression, or could this be depression unrelated to having a baby, exactly a year ago?

Yes. And she will need to go and see someone or it will just get worse.

Question by Colin: How is it possible for a person to leave depression behind without medical help?
I did just this after 3 years of depression.

My depression culminated in an attempted suicide at age 10.

The modern view in medicine is that suicide is a consequence of failing to cope with “depression”.

There is plenty of information regards this topic online, but hardly any on how a person can overcome depression without medical help, this is why i want to know what you think is a persons reason/s for leaving depression behind without medical help.

Thanks.

Question by Mizz Juicie: Is it possible for a mother to have postpartum depression beyond the childs infancy?
I have a friend who is 21 and she has a very jacked up relationship with her mother. Her mom has a very serious complex about herself and she wants to always be viewed as the nice 1 and the 1 thats most important and she has been this way sine her daughter was born. Is it possible for her to be still suffering from some sorta postpartum depression or is she just crazy?
