Question by j: I think my wife is going through Postpartum Depression?
I think my wife is going through Postpartum Depression, what can I do to reassure her that she’s doing great as a mom?
Our baby is healthy and a big boy! It’s just those times when he’s fuzzing around and doesn’t sleep that are getting my wife down. She’s really tired and hasn’t slept longer than 3 hours for quite a while because she’s breastfeeding the baby.
thanks in advanced.

They don’t. Of all the people I’ve heard of (known) who’ve taken meds all are still depressed. what helps depression is lifestyle change and forcing yourself to do things that scare you.
For people who have serious mental problems like sczophrenia and bi polar/manic depression, okay, I see a need for medications cause those are problems where somebody has lost all sense of rational thought..
but depression comes from lack of self esteem and failure to acheive goals e.t.c. .. a happy pill isn’t going to erase all that from your mind.
I have depression and my sister is always like “you should maybe take something so you don’t feel quite so depressed”.. She’s never been as depressed as I have because she’s always been smart and able to achieve things in life that I constantly struggle with.

I feel like a failure, I am also dealing with the loss of father two months ago. I feel like i have no one to talk to, my hubby believes that PPD does not exist, so i can’t tell him that I am depressed and I feel like if i talk to my doc that she think i am bad mother. I am having a hard time being a new mom. this should be a happy time , but i am just so sad. My Baby is only 4 weeks. i am just so frustrated with everything. where should i get help, my ob?
I also yell at my hubby for no reason or stupid reason, I just have so many mood swings, i don’t know what to do, If i get help i think i might have to hide it from my hubby

I have a 2 week old and a 4 year old and 3 step children. I have been crying everyday. I don’t feel like I am bonding with my newborn because of my emoitions. My husband does not seem to understand what I am going threw. I feel very disconnected and I don’t know what to do. I called my doctor and made an appointment. Does anyone understand this?
