Question by Crazy_person: What are the symptoms of depression and when should drugs be used for treatment?
Like symptoms other than the obvious ones like feeling down.
When does someone get the point where help from medication is needed. I know someone who is suffering from a form of depression but is worried that the antidepression tablets will have worse side effects. Its hard to know if its severe depression or even depression at all.

When you stop doing the things you enjoy doing, and secluding yourself from your friends and the world, it’s time to get on medication.

I’m writing a paper for my psychology methods class. I’m in the final draft and I needed to include the specific name of the depression survey I would give my participants. Does anyone know of one? I used the Goldberg depression scale but I’m not sure how reliable this actually is. Are there any better ones? Thanks.

There are lots of different mdications used to treat Minic Depression/Bipolar Disorder.
They fall into three categories, mood stabilizers, anti-depressants, and anti-psychotics.
Lithium is a mood stabilizer that has been used to treat bipolar for a long time. Newer mood-stabilizers are usually anti-convulsant medications like Depacote and Lamictal.
